The goal of this program is to promote the analysis of cancer as a complex biological system by supporting the development of reliably predictive in silico or computational models of cancer initiation and progression that can ultimately lead to the development of improved cancer interventions. It integrates experimental and computational approaches towards the understanding of cancer biology. The initiative encourages the emergence of integrative cancer biology as a distinct field. The program aims to develop and experimentally validate computational models of EGFR-family signaling in breast cancer that will predict individual responses to therapeutic agents that target this pathway. The program is one of ten NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded Center for Cancer Biology (CCSB) in the United States. More information about NIH/NCI ICBP available here.
